Queridos vecinos,
Hay una nueva mascota del Distrito 26 corriendo por la calle Division. Después de la repentina pérdida de nuestro perro Royal, Shadow nos está trayendo alegría a Becky y a mí mientras lloramos. Ahora es el miembro de la familia más paciente, curioso y mimoso.
Quiero extender mi profundo agradecimiento a todos los vecinos que se unieron a la Representante Estatal Lilian Jiménez y a mí para mi Café mensual con el Concejal el sábado pasado. Su participación y discusiones reflexivas sobre temas que van desde los impuestos a la propiedad a la mitigación del tráfico y la misión de los migrantes fueron invaluables. Su participación refleja la fuerza de nuestra comunidad. Mi oficina continuará con nuestro alcance mensual en todo el distrito en un esfuerzo por hacer que los servicios de la ciudad accesible a todos. Los directores son la base de nuestras comunidades escolares, y su fuerte liderazgo es lo que garantiza que nuestros jóvenes estén seguros, confiados y preparados para carreras académicas y profesionales. Me sentí muy bien al regresar a mi antiguo terreno en Roberto Clemente Community Academy para recibir a 17 líderes escolares en nuestro Desayuno de Directores. Junto con mi colega el concejal Daniel La Spata, hemos sido capaces de compartir los recursos de los recién llegados, los activos de la comunidad, e identificar las listas de deseos de fondos de capital. Marvin García de Community as a Campus proporcionó el contexto para la importancia de reunirse como una comunidad más grande antes de salir corriendo para recibir un merecido premio de la Junta de Educación de Chicago.
Estoy muy orgulloso de mejorar la educación en los distritos 1 y 26, y espero que nuestros líderes estén disfrutando de su tan necesario descanso en estas vacaciones de primavera.

The 26th Ward community-driven zoning process requires that anyone requesting a zoning change must first complete a zoning intake form. Once their intake form has been reviewed they are invited to present their zoning request to the 26th Ward Zoning Advisory Committee and must answer additional questions posed by the committee. When applicable, the person requesting a zoning change may also be required to present their zoning request to the broader public during a community input meeting. |

Property Tax Exemptions Now Open |

Property tax–saving exemptions applications for the 2023 tax year are now available online. Exemptions are savings that contribute to lowering a homeowner’s property tax bill. The most common is the Homeowner Exemption, which saves a property owner an average of $950 dollars each year. New homeowners, first-time applicants, or those that need to reapply can now do so online at cookcountyassessor.com/exemptions. Homeowners are strongly encouraged to apply online so there is a digital record of their application. This allows Assessor staff to easily locate the application, provide a status update, and notify the homeowner if missing documents are needed. |
