To my 26th Ward neighbors,
At our City Council meeting last week, I voted in favor of approving $51 million in funding to provide care and support to migrants that have come to Chicago from Central and South America. I am committed to returning to city council every session to also ensure that we are seeking to invest in all of our neighborhoods, to provide housing for the unhoused, to provide wrap-around services to families in need, and to fight for a stronger and safer 26th Ward.
We are accepting donations at our ward office for asylum seekers. We are accepting travel-sized hygiene supplies as well as undergarments for women and men. We kindly request that no winter clothes be brought to our office as we do not have the space to store items long term.

We were super excited to host our first Family Resource Fair at Stowe Elementary along with State Representative Lilian Jiménez and State Senator Omar Aquino. Our Family Resource Fair brought together organizations that provide housing, wellness, education and family resources to our community. We also sought to create a safe space to celebrate young people with games, piñatas, and activities. My team and I were able to secure a donation of over 70 toys that the children rejoiced over.
After the resource fair, I was able to share with some neighbors at a yearly backyard party on Monticello near Cortland. I was able to meet a diverse group of people who have lived in Humboldt Park for over 50 years and some that recently made Humboldt Park their home. It was an example of the community of people that we want to see all throughout the ward.

On Saturday, June 3rd, I joined ALSO for their annual peace march. I stood alongside city, county, state, and federal elected colleagues committing to investing in our neighborhoods so that we can build a safer Chicago. We marched, chanted, locked arms, and dreamed of a safer city in partnership. The health of our community not only means building safer neighborhoods, but ensuring that we provide resources that help stabilize our communities.

We also co-sponsored a wellness fair on Paseo Boricua that included healthy cooking demos, zumba, diabetes and blood pressure exams. My office is committed to serving every resident and meeting them where they are. I am honored to represent this ward everyday and I am committed to doing the work. In partnership,
Your 26th Ward Alderperson, Jessie Fuentes
