Estimados vecinos,
Reflexionar sobre los acontecimientos de la semana pasada en el Distrito 26 ha sido gratificante e instructivo. El compromiso que experimentamos durante la Noche del Distrito en The Clipper fue realmente alentador. Extiendo mi más sincero agradecimiento a Timo MartĂnez y al personal de The Clipper por su amable acogida y su ayuda en la difusiĂłn de la palabra. La alta participaciĂłn fue un testimonio de la voluntad de la comunidad para expresar sus preocupaciones y buscar soluciones, y mi equipo y yo tuvimos el placer de abordar estas cuestiones.
Uno de los momentos más destacados de la semana fue la visita a la FundaciĂłn Life Impactors con el concejal Carlos RamĂrez Rosa. Situada en el distrito 35, pero al servicio de muchos del 26, Life Impactors nos impresionĂł con su dedicaciĂłn a la vivienda de los solicitantes de asilo, el funcionamiento de una despensa de alimentos, y el apoyo a los ciudadanos que regresan. Extendemos nuestra gratitud a la cofundadora y directora del programa Yolanda Peña y al equipo de Life Impactors por garantizar que nuestras comunidades sean seguras y acogedoras para todos.
La visita a la escuela primaria Mitchell fue una valiosa oportunidad para conectar con mentes jóvenes deseosas de marcar la diferencia. Me invitaron a hablar después de que los hijos de algunos residentes insistieran en que visitara su clase. Visité la clase de Estudios Sociales de 8º curso del Sr. Nathan Ramin, donde los alumnos me prepararon preguntas sobre cuestiones relacionadas con los inmigrantes y las personas sin hogar del barrio.
El entusiasmo de la clase del Sr. Ramin, que organizĂł una colecta de ropa para los necesitados, refleja el impacto positivo que pueden tener nuestros jĂłvenes cuando se les da la oportunidad y el estĂmulo de comprometerse con su comunidad.
De cara al futuro, se están produciendo cambios en la oficina del Distrito 26. Un reciente retiro de tres horas nos permitió a mi equipo y a mà reflexionar sobre nuestro trabajo, celebrar los éxitos e identificar las áreas de mejora. Este compromiso de autoevaluación y recalibración subraya nuestra dedicación a servir mejor a nuestros vecinos. Mientras realizamos estos ajustes, tengan la seguridad de que estamos aprovechando al máximo el tiempo que pasamos juntos para mejorar nuestros sistemas y nuestra capacidad de respuesta. Estamos comprometidos a crear una comunidad más segura y más vibrante en el Distrito 26. Estoy agradecido por el apoyo continuo y el compromiso de nuestros residentes y esperamos seguir avanzando.

26th Ward Zoning |
The 26th Ward community-based zoning process requires that anyone requesting a zoning change must first complete a zoning intake form. Once their intake form has been reviewed they will be invited to present their zoning request to the 26th Ward Zoning Advisory Committee and must answer additional questions posed by the committee. When applicable, the person requesting a zoning change may also be required to present their zoning request to the broader public during a community input meeting. Winter Parking Ban Started Dec 1st |
Beginning December 1st, if you see a posted sign that says no parking between 3AM and 7AM that means that the winter overnight parking ban is in effect on this street, whether it snows or not. In the 26th Ward, Division Street is effected. Do not park at these locations between 3AM & 7AM from now until April 1st or you will be ticketed and towed. You should also avoid parking here during heavy snow storms when more than 2 inches of snow has fallen. If you believe that your vehicle has been towed you can dial 311 for more information or consult the City of Chicago’s homepage at www.Cityofchicago.Org. |

Now Open: Emergency Heating Repair Program |

The Emergency Heating Repair Program (EHRP) is a grant program available to income-eligible Chicago homeowners for service to repair or replace their furnace or boiler heating system. Grant funds are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is open to Chicagoans who own and occupy a 1-to-4 unit residential property within the city limits. The property must be in habitable condition and not at risk of foreclosure. Commercial and mixed-use properties do not qualify. |
