☃️ ¡Feliz Navidad desde el Distrito 26!🎄

Estimados vecinos,

Jessie Fuentes

26th Ward Snow Shoveling Program

‘Tis the season for giving! I’m excited to announce that we are beginning to recruit for our Snow Shoveling Program. We will pair seniors and neighbors with disabilities with volunteers who will help keep our Ward safe and walkable by shoveling snow.

I invite you to let us know if you are in need of help OR are someone who is willing to volunteer. Our office will reach out to match volunteers with an individual in their area who is in need of support. Complete the Google Form here: bit.ly/snowprogram26.

Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Chicago's Tree Recycling Program runs from January 6th to the 20th. Trees can be dropped off anytime during normal park hours at the Humboldt Park Boathouse, 1301 N Humboldt Dr.

Only live/natural trees without flocking are accepted. Garlands and wreaths are not accepted. Because the trees are turned into mulch, all tinsel, ornaments, lights, and stands must be removed. Plastic bags used for transport also need to be removed before putting trees into the stalls. Click here to find a drop-off site near you.

Community Safety Town Hall Shout Outs!

Last Monday, Principal Belville and McAuliffe Elementary hosted our 26th Ward Community Safety Town Hall. Shout out to the students and staff who stuck around to help us set up! Alongside Deputy Mayor of Community Safety Garien Gatewood, we were able to present updated crime date and the People’s Plan for Public Safety to 40 constituents.

Thank you to our community organizations that tabled and shared more about the work they do, including District Councilor Alees Edwards, Avondale Restorative Justice Court, ComEd, ALSO, BUILD, PRCC, Rincón Family Services, City Colleges of Chicago, Family Focus, Center for Changing Lives, and the 12th District CAPS office.
